Financial Planning FAQs

What does a financial advisor do?

A financial advisor helps you understand where you are financially, identify where you want to go, and develop a strategy to help you get there. That can include retirement planning, investing, budgeting, debt reduction, insurance planning, cash-flow management, and helping you prioritize competing financial goals.

At Battle Born Financial Advisor, our goal is to give you clear recommendations and practical next steps—not simply sell you a financial product.

How much does financial planning cost?

The cost depends on how much help you need. Our financial planning services use clear, flat-fee pricing so you know the cost before getting started.

Our current planning services generally range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity and scope of the engagement. We also offer pro bono financial planning for qualifying individuals who may need help with basic budgeting, debt, or financial wellness.

You do not have to commit to ongoing investment management to receive financial planning advice.

Do I need a minimum amount of money to work with a CFP® professional?

No. You do not need a large investment portfolio to use our flat-fee financial planning services.

Financial planning can be valuable whether you are just getting started, trying to pay off debt, building retirement savings, preparing to retire, or already managing a substantial portfolio.

Our planning services are based on the help you need—not simply how much money you have available to invest.

Can someone review my investments without managing them?

Yes. You can hire us for a Portfolio Review & Second Opinion without turning over management of your investments.

We can review your asset allocation, investment risk, expenses, diversification, tax considerations, and rebalancing strategy. We then explain what we would consider changing and why.

This can be especially useful for DIY investors, people with most of their retirement savings in a 401(k), or anyone who simply wants a professional second opinion.

Can a financial advisor help with debt?

Yes. Debt management is an important part of financial planning.

We can help you organize your debts, understand how they fit into your overall financial picture, compare payoff strategies, determine appropriate cash reserves, and build a budget that works with your income and other goals.

The objective isn't simply to pay off debt as quickly as possible. It's to develop a financial strategy that balances debt repayment with emergencies, retirement savings, insurance needs, and the rest of your life.

Do you offer flat-fee financial planning?

Yes. Our financial planning engagements are offered for a clear, flat fee based on the type and complexity of planning you need.

You can hire us for financial planning without agreeing to ongoing investment management or purchasing a financial product.

If ongoing help makes sense afterward, we can discuss annual planning checkups, additional consultations, or investment management—but there is no obligation to continue.
